〘noun〙① A horse ridden by a Hayauchi messenger. A horse for a courier. Also, a courier riding on that horse. ※Heike (early 13th century) 5 "He sent a fast horse to Fukuhara to tell them." ② A horse that runs fast. A horse that runs well. A swift horse. ※Heichu (around 965) 34 "Because this man was a stealthy man, he would live with the thought of being his wife, even though he didn't think he was his wife."

〘Noun〙① = Hayauma (fast horse) [Collected Words (around 1797)] ② God of cattle and horses. Also, the horse race (kurabeuma) held at the festival of that god. In Kagoshima Prefecture.

はや‐ま【早馬】

〘名〙① =はやうま(早馬)〔俚言集覧(1797頃)〕② 牛馬の神。また、その神の祭に行なわれる競馬(くらべうま)。鹿児島県でいう。
