〘名〙① 漢字の八種類の書体。諸説あるが、「漢書‐芸文志」および許慎の「説文解字序」によれば、大篆(だいてん)・小篆(しょうてん)・刻符・虫書・摹印(ぼいん)・署書・殳書(しゅしょ)・隷書(れいしょ)をさす。〔性霊集‐四（835頃）〕※古今著聞集（1254）七「凡六文八体のすがたをあらはす輩」〔沈約‐斉故安陸昭王碑文〕② 発句を風姿の上から分類した八種類の体。幽玄・有心・無心・悠遠・風艷・風情(ふぜい)・寓言・風曲をさす。※俳諧・有也無也関（1764）発句八躰之事「右発句八躰の事は自他の句躰何々と見定めよくその趣向を改め脇に及ばすべきの鏡なり」③ 連句の付け方の八種類。其人(そのひと)・其場(そのば)・時節・時分・天相・時宜・観相・面影をさす。支考の説いた説。〔俳諧・俳諧古今抄（1730）〕
