Ishimura Oumi

Japanese: 石村近江 - いしむらおうみ
Ishimura Oumi
The name of a shamisen maker. It was passed down through several generations until the end of the Edo period. The first was from Kyoto, but his background is unclear. The second moved to Edo, and the fifth is the most famous. Among the successive Omi, works from a relatively old period, usually those made before the fifth generation, are called "Old Omi" and are especially respected as fine instruments.
