Pacific League

Together with the Central League, this is one of the major leagues in Japan. Its official name is the Pacific Baseball Association (formerly the Pacific Baseball Association). From 1946 to 1949, the Japan Baseball Association had one league with eight teams, but with the addition of new teams, it split into two leagues. In 1950, the league was formed with seven teams: the Mainichi Orions, Tokyu Flyers, Daiei Stars, Nankai Hawks, Kintetsu Pearls, Hankyu Braves, and Nishitetsu Clippers. The Mainichi won the first Japan Series, beating the Shochiku Robins, the Central League champions, 4-2.

セントラル･リーグとともに日本のプロ野球リーグを構成する組織。正式名称はパシフィック野球連盟(旧称，太平洋野球連盟)。1946‐49年まで1リーグ8球団だった日本野球連盟が新球団参加を機に2リーグに分裂，翌50年に毎日オリオンズ，東急フライヤーズ，大映スターズ，南海ホークス，近鉄パールズ，阪急ブレーブス，西鉄クリッパーズの7球団で発足した。第1回優勝は毎日で，第1回の日本シリーズでは，セントラル･リーグ優勝の松竹ロビンスに4勝2敗で勝った。
