A low, uniform, misty cloud. It does not touch the ground. It is usually localized, contains water droplets, and forms in relatively good weather. Kirigumo (fog cloud) . 〔Eiwa Waei Chigaku Jiyo (1914)〕[2] A haiku magazine. It was first published in 1911 by Kawahigashi Hekigoto and Ogiwara Seisensui . Later, Hekigoto and others left and Seisensui took over as president. It aimed for a new trend in haiku that advocated no seasons and free verse. It produced such poets as Ozaki Hosai , Taneda Santoka , and Kuribayashi Issekiro . [1] 〘名〙① 層をなす雲。雲の層。また、比較的低いところにはう雲。※本朝文粋(1060頃)四・為入道前太政大臣辞職第三表〈大江匡衡〉「則如下養二魚鼈於層雲之巓一、棲中鳥雀於重淵之底上者也」※経国美談(1883‐84)〈矢野龍渓〉後「遠く平羅の地を望めば平昆の嶮嶺遙に層雲の上に秀づ」 〔陸機‐文賦〕② 十種雲形の一つ。低く一様にたれこめた霧のような雲。地面には接触していない。ふつう局地的なもので、水滴を含んでいるが比較的天気のよい時にできる。霧雲(きりぐも)。〔英和和英地学字彙(1914)〕[2] 俳句雑誌。明治四四年(一九一一)河東碧梧桐(かわひがしへきごとう)・荻原井泉水(おぎわらせいせんすい)が中心となって創刊。のちに碧梧桐らが去って井泉水が主宰。無季・自由律を主張した新傾向の俳句をめざした。尾崎放哉(ほうさい)・種田山頭火(さんとうか)・栗林一石路(いっせきろ)らを輩出した。
