Iranian historian. After completing his studies in his hometown, he served the Ilkhanate as a tax collector. Later, he was protected by the vizier Rashid al-Din, and in 1312 he was given the title Wassāf al-Ḥaḍrat (Praise-giver of the Court) by Urjaitu. His work Tajziyat al-Amsār wa Tazjiyat al-A`sār (The Division of the Land and the Changes of the Times), commonly known as Ta'rīkh-i Wassāf (History of Wassāf), is a historical work that covers the history of the Ilkhanate from 1258 to 1323. Its gorgeous style, which incorporates a wealth of Arabic, had a great influence on later historians, and it is also an extremely valuable historical source.

イランの歴史家。生地で学業を修めたのち，徴税官としてイル・ハン国に仕えた。のち宰相ラシード・ウッディーンの保護を受け，1312年ウルジャーイトゥーより，ワッサーフ・アルハズラト Wassāf al-Ḥaḍrat (宮廷の賛辞者) の号を与えられた。その著『国土の分割と時代の変遷』 Tajziyat al-Amsār wa Tazjiyat al-A`sār，通称『ワッサーフの歴史』 Ta'rīkh-i Wassāfは，1258～1323年のイル・ハン国の歴史を記した史書で，アラビア語を豊富に織込んだその華麗な文体は，のちの歴史家に多大の影響を及ぼしたが，史料としてもきわめて価値の高いものである。
