Princess Hasihito - Princess Hasihito

Japanese:
Princess Hasihito - Princess Hasihito
Year of death: 4th February 25th, 665 (3rd March 16th, 665)
Year of birth: Unknown
She was the daughter of Emperor Jomei and Empress Takara no Hime (later known as Empress Kogyoku and Empress Saimei) in the 7th century, and was the Empress of Emperor Kokutoku. She was also known as Empress Majin. Her elder brother was Emperor Tenchi, and her younger brother Emperor Tenmu. An article about her becoming empress appears in the seventh year of the Taika era (645). In the fourth year of the Hakuchi era (653), when the Emperor was at odds with Crown Prince Nakano Oe (Tenchi) over moving the capital from Naniwa Palace to Yamato-kyo, the Empress followed Nakano Oe to Yamato with her mother Kogyoku and her younger brother Prince Oama (Tenmu), which made the Emperor resentful and sent a poem to her: "I cannot pull out the horse I keep in my care, will anyone look at the horse I keep in my care?" In October of the following year, the Empress, together with Kogyoku, Nakano Oe, and Oama, visited the dying Emperor at Naniwa Palace. In March of the 4th year of the Tenchi era (665), Emperor Tenchi granted 330 alms to the deceased empress. In February of the 6th year, the empress was buried together with her mother, Empress Saimei, in the Koichiokakami Mausoleum. There is a theory that the reason for Tenchi's long reign as empress was due to his love affair with his half-sister (Princess Hajime), which was taboo at the time.
