A town in Sannohe County, located in the southeastern corner of Aomori Prefecture. It borders Iwate Prefecture across Mt. Hashikami (739m). The Hachinohe Line runs through the town. There are many forests, and dairy farming, field crops, and rice cultivation are practiced. Silkworm farming is popular. Local performing arts such as Koma Odori and Enburi are handed down.
