White Wolf Uprising - White Wolf Broom

Japanese: 白狼蜂起 - はくろうほうき

A popular uprising against Yuan Shikai in China from 1912 to 1914. It was led by Bai Lang (also written as Bai Lang, 1873-1914), a native of Baofeng County, Henan Province. Opposed to the strengthening of Yuan Shikai's dictatorship and the rule of landlords and bureaucrats, which had not changed even after the Xinhai Revolution, they rallied bankrupt peasants from North China, preached "strike down the rich and save the poor," and attacked government offices, large landlords, and wealthy people. Calling themselves the "Citizens' Army to Defeat Rebels," they fought in Henan, Shaanxi, Gansu, Hubei, and Anhui, causing trouble for the Beiyang Army, but failed due to Bai Lang's death from battle wounds.
