Tamandua tetradactyla (English spelling)

...General term for mammals of the Myrmecophagidae family that eat ants and have a long, slender snout and long tongue protruding from a cylindrical head. There are four species: the Giant Anteater Myrmecophaga tridactyla (illustration), the Southern Tamandua Tamandua tetradactyla (illustration), the Northern Tamandua T. mexicana , and the Little Anteater Cyclopes didactylus (illustration). They live in tropical forests and savannas from southern Mexico through Central America to Paraguay in South America.
