A former town in Higashitagawa County in the northwest of Yamagata Prefecture. It occupies the southeastern and southern mountainous areas of the Shonai Plain, and produces rice and fruit. Touge is a temple town of Mt. Haguro, and has many lodgings. In October 2005, it was incorporated into Tsuruoka City along with Atsumi Town in Nishitagawa County, Kushibiki Town in Higashitagawa County, Fujishima Town, and Asahi Village. 109.61 km2 . 9,776 people (2003).
