Aerobics is a full-body exercise that aims to be continued for as long as possible while supplying oxygen to the body. Originally, it was a medical term meaning aerobic exercise, as opposed to anaerobic exercise (anaerobic exercise) in which muscles do not use oxygen, such as sprinting in track and field. The proponent of this exercise was Kenneth H. Cooper, an American medical doctor. It is widely accepted that exercises that use the whole body and are performed over a long period of time, such as jogging, swimming, cycling, and skiing, improve the function of the heart and lungs, prevent the degeneration of blood vessels, and send oxygen to every corner of the body, making the function of tissues and cells more active. The characteristic of aerobics theory is that it gives scores for the amount of exercise in each type of exercise, and clearly shows exercise programs to improve health according to age, sex, and physical fitness level. In scoring exercise, 7 milliliters of oxygen consumption per kilogram of body weight per minute is set as 1 point, and in order to maintain and improve health, adult men need to exercise 30 points per week, and adult women need to exercise 24 points per week. For example, the following exercises are all worth 5 points: running 1.6 kilometers in under 8 minutes, swimming 550 meters in under 15 minutes, cycling 8 kilometers in under 20 minutes, and skipping rope for 10 minutes. Also, 25 minutes of vigorous aerobic dance will earn you 5 points of exercise. Aerobic dance is an exercise that is recommended for anyone, not just women, because the movements are extremely varied, the exercise itself is fun as you dance to the rhythm, and you can control the amount of exercise yourself.
