...The Sho and Ishikawa clans were appointed as shugodai under the Hosokawa clan, but as the power of the shugo families declined, the power of the two shugodai families and the local lord Mimura clan rose, ushering in a full-scale warring states era. As for manors in the Middle Ages, Niimi Manor in the Toji Temple territory, Ashimori Manor in the Jingoji Temple territory, Minari Manor in the Nanzenji Temple territory, Hayumaya Manor in the Anrakujuin territory, and Oi Manor in the Shokokuji Temple territory are well known, as well as Kambara Go in the Tofukuji Temple territory, Hayashima-ho in the Kibitsumiya territory, Sakata Manor, Masu Manor, Take Manor in the Shinkumano Shrine territory, Kose Manor in the Chokodo territory, and Oshima-ho in the Rokujoin territory, and many others, with many manors owned by the imperial family being noticeable. Among them, Niimi Manor was an Imperial estate whose head was Saishokoin (the head was the Ozuki family, a government official) and which was donated to Toji Temple at the end of the Kamakura period. In terms of the number of documents related to it, it is on a par with Yano Manor in Harima Province, which was a Toji temple property. In particular, the complete set of documents, including the 1271 (Bun'ei 8) head inspector's register and the 1325 (Shochu 2) inspector's register, are valuable, even though they are only copies. In addition, the Toji Hyakugo documents contain many detailed letters written by the prolific Jikimu magistrate Yusei and Kanago Hirauji Tadokoro (formerly the Yasutomi clan's vassal Furuya Danjozaemonnojo Hirauji), which clearly show the hardships faced by the manors during the period of dissolution. *Some of the terminology that refers to Kibitsu Shrine is listed below. …
