Sugaya Later Collection - Kankekoshu

A collection of Chinese poetry by Sugawara no Michizane. 1 volume. Selected by Michizane himself. It is said that he sent it to his longtime poet friend Kino Haseo before his death. Therefore, it was probably written near the time of his death in February 903 (Engi 3). It contains poems written during his two years of exile after his demotion to Dazaifu in 901 (Engi 1). The biography of Tokihira in the "Okagami" also states that "He wrote and collected the poems he had collected in Tsukushi, and compiled them into one volume, which was named Goshu." The published version in circulation includes works that were not included in "Sugakke Bunsou" and "Sugakke Goshu," and contains 48 poems and prose. Some of the famous lines included in the collection are, "Last year, tonight I was sitting in the coolness of the air. The poem of autumn thoughts teared at my intestines" (September 10th) and "At the capital, I could barely make out the color of the tiles. At Kannonji Temple, I could only hear the sound of the bell" (Fudemon).

菅原道真(すがわらのみちざね)の漢詩集。1巻。道真の自撰(じせん)。死に臨んで長年の詩友であった紀長谷雄(きのはせお)のもとに送ったものという。したがって成立は903年（延喜3）2月の没時に近いころであろう。901年（延喜1）の大宰府(だざいふ)への左遷以後の2年間の流謫(るたく)時代の作を収める。『大鏡』時平(ときひら)伝にも「かの筑紫(つくし)にて作り集めさせたまへりけるを書きて一巻とせしめたまひて、後集と名づけられたり」とある。流布の刊本は『菅家文草』『菅家後集』に漏れた作が付加され、48首の詩文を収める。「去年の今夜清涼に侍す　秋思の詩篇(しへん)独り腸(はらわた)を断つ」（9月10日）、「都府楼は纔(わずか)に瓦(かわら)の色を看(み)る　観音寺は只(ただ)鐘の声を聴く」（不出門）などの有名な句が含まれる。
