The ruins of an ancient Greek and Roman city in Capaccio, a town in Campania, southern Italy. Founded as a Greek colony in the 7th century BC, it contains the Temples of Hera, Poseidon, and Ceres, as well as the remains of city walls, gates, and an amphitheatre. The National Archaeological Museum displays excavated items, including a sarcophagus decorated with pictures commemorating the deceased and an Attic-style black urn. In 1998, it was registered as a World Heritage Site (cultural heritage) as "National Park of the Cilento-Diano Valley with the Archaeological Sites of Paestum and Velia and the Carthusian Monastery of Padula".
