Heat balance

In the energy balance based on the first law of thermodynamics, when the changes in kinetic energy and potential energy can be ignored compared to the change in internal energy,

U1 + q ₌ U2 + _Aw

Here, U1 _and U2 are the internal energies of the system in states ₁ and 2, q is the thermal energy given to the system, A is the heat equivalent of work, and w is the work done by the system to the outside. When there is no external work, the above balance equation is simplified as follows.

Heat input + internal heat generation (due to reaction, etc.)

= Heat output + Heat stored in the system

This case is specifically called heat balance.

熱力学第一法則にもとづいたエネルギーの収支で，運動エネルギーと位置エネルギーの変化が，内部エネルギーの変化に対して無視できるときは，

U₁ ＋ q ＝ U₂ ＋ Aw

で表される．ここで，U₁，U₂ は状態1および2のときの系の有する内部エネルギー，qは系に与えられる熱エネルギー，Aは仕事の熱当量，wは系が外部になす仕事である．外部仕事のない場合，上の収支式は次のように簡易化される．

　　入熱量＋内部での発熱量(反応などによる)

　　　　　＝出熱量＋系に蓄積される熱量

この場合を，とくに熱収支という．
