Japanese: 砺波[市] - となみ

A city in the center of the Tonami Plain in western Toyama Prefecture. It was incorporated as a city in 1954. It is famous for the scattered villages spread out on the alluvial fan of the Shogawa River. Demachi, in the center, developed as a market town, and is served by the Johana Line and the Hokuriku Expressway. The Tokai-Hokuriku Expressway, which branches off from the city near the border with Oyabe City, opened in 1992. The area is dominated by rice paddies, and tulips are grown as a second crop; the city is the number one producer of bulbs in the country and they are also exported. Paper, spinning, and brewing industries are carried out, and an industrial park is also located here. Shogawa Town, Higashi Tonami District, was incorporated in November 2004. ^{127.03 km2} . 富山県西部，砺波平野中央部の市。1954年市制。庄川の扇状地上に展開する散村風景で有名。中心の出町は市場町として発達，城端(じょうはな)線，北陸自動車道が通じ，小矢部市との境付近で分岐する東海北陸自動車道が1992年開通。水田卓越地域で，裏作にチューリップを栽培，球根の生産量は全国一で輸出もされる。製紙・紡績・醸造工業を行い，工業団地も立地する。2004年11月東礪波郡庄川町を編入。127.03km²。４万9410人（2010）。
