Japanese: ネズミガヤ - ねずみがや

A perennial grass of the grass family found under forests in hilly areas, in fields and on roadsides. It has no underground stems, but the lower part of the thin stem branches at the nodes and spreads long above ground, forming runners, with the branches and upper part standing upright, and the height of that part is 15-25cm. The leaves are short and linear, 5-10cm long and 2-4mm wide, soft, slightly whitish green and long and pointed at the tip. From summer to autumn, it produces pale grey panicles. The inflorescences are 8-15cm long, thin, slightly drooping at the tip, and bear numerous spikelets somewhat sparsely on the divided branches.
