A feudal lord in the early modern period. He is said to have come from Ise Province and later moved to Mikawa. He served Ieyasu from the time of Nagashige in 1565 (Eiroku 8), and in 1601 (Keicho 6) he was given a fief of 10,000 koku in Isesaki, Kozuke. He was then transferred to Kariwa in Echigo with 20,000 koku, Sanjo in Echigo with 23,000 koku, and Kariya in Mikawa, and then Karasuyama in Shimotsuke (25,000 koku, later 30,000 koku), before moving to Toba in Shima in 1725 (Kyoho 10) under Akikata. From then until the end of the Edo period, the head of the family was appointed as Settsu no Kami, Shinano no Kami, or Tsushima no Kami, with the rank of Junior Fifth Rank. After the Meiji Restoration, he was made a viscount. Nagashige's third son, Shigetomo, was summoned to be a close aide to Tokugawa Hidetada, and in 1685 (Jokyo 2) under his son Shigesada, he became a feudal lord with 13,000 koku.
