Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry

Founded in 1928, this is the central federation of chambers of commerce and industry nationwide. Its abbreviation is Nissho. Its purpose is to integrate and coordinate chambers of commerce nationwide, which are organized by merchants and industrialists in each city or certain region, to represent their opinions, and to cooperate with domestic and foreign economic organizations, thereby promoting the healthy development of chambers of commerce and contributing to the promotion of commerce and industry. To this end, it is engaged in activities such as integrating and publishing the opinions of chambers of commerce nationwide, conducting research and studies on domestic and foreign economies, collecting and publishing information and materials, hosting and arranging domestic and foreign expositions and trade fairs, arranging domestic and foreign commercial transactions and mediating disputes, and coordinating with domestic and foreign chambers of commerce and economic organizations (Chamber of Commerce and Industry Law, 64, 65). It is one of the three business organizations, along with the Japan Business Federation (Nippon Keidanren) and the Japan Association of Corporate Executives.

1928年に設立された全国の商工会議所の中央連合体。略称は日商。都市または一定地域を単位として，その地域内の商工業者で組織する全国の商工会議所を総合，調整し，その意見を代表し，国の内外の経済団体と提携することなどによって商工会議所の健全な発達をはかり，商工業の振興に寄与することを目的としている。そのため全国の商工会議所の意見の総合や公表，国内および国外経済の調査研究，情報や資料などの収集や刊行，内外の博覧会，見本市の開催や斡旋，内外商事の取引の斡旋や紛争の調停，内外の商工会議所，経済団体などとの提携などの事業を行なっている（商工会議所法64，65）。日本経済団体連合会（日本経団連），経済同友会とともに財界三団体の一つ。
