Japanese: 日本鉱業[株] - にほんこうぎょう

Originating from Kuhara Mining Works, which was established by Fusanosuke Kuhara at Hitachi Mine in 1905, and taken over by Yoshisuke Aikawa in 1928, Nissan Conzern was the foundation of the company. It had natural gas facilities in Nakajo, smelting facilities in Hitachi, Saganoseki and Mikkaichi, oil refineries in Mizushima and Funakawa, lubricants in Sodegaura and metal processing facilities in Kurami. Its main products were petroleum products, copper, processed metals, zinc and gold, and it was a core refining company of the Kyodo Oil Group, with a dual focus on petroleum and metals. However, it separated its metals division and made it a subsidiary (Nippon Mining & Metals), and merged with Kyodo Oil on an equal footing in December 1992 to become Nikko Kyoseki, and changed its name to Japan Energy in 1993.

1905年久原房之助が日立鉱山に設立した久原鉱業所に発し，1928年鮎川義介が譲り受け，日産コンツェルンの基礎となった会社。中条の天然ガス，日立，佐賀関，三日市の製錬，水島，船川の製油，袖ヶ浦の潤滑油，倉見の金属加工の各事業所をもった。石油製品，銅，金属加工品，亜鉛，金などが主力製品で，石油と金属の二本建て経営，共同石油グループの中核精製会社であったが，金属部門を分離・子会社化（〈日鉱金属〉），1992年12月共同石油と対等合併し〈日鉱共石〉となり，1993年ジャパンエナジーと改称。
