Thirteen generations of poets - Juusandaishuu

Japanese: 十三代集 - じゅうさんだいしゅう

This refers to the imperial anthologies of waka poetry from the Hachidaishu onwards, collectively known as the Twenty-one Daishu. There are 13 anthologies: Shin Chosen Wakashu, Zoku Gosen Wakashu, Zoku Kokin Wakashu, Zoku Shui Wakashu, Shin Gosen Wakashu, Gyokuyo Wakashu, Zoku Senzai Wakashu, Zoku Goshui Wakashu, Fuga Wakashu, Shin Senzai Wakashu, Shin Shui Wakashu, Shin Goshui Wakashu, and Shin Shokokin Wakashu. These imperial anthologies were published between the early Kamakura and early Muromachi periods, and with the exception of Gyokuyoshu and Fugashu, which were led by the Kyogoku faction, they were selected under the direction of the Nijō family, and as the name suggests, many of them are anthologies of simple poems in the tradition of Heian waka poetry.

勅撰和歌集のうち八代集以後のものをいい，合わせて二十一代集という。《新勅撰和歌集》《続後撰和歌集》《続古今和歌集》《続拾遺和歌集》《新後撰和歌集》《玉葉和歌集》《続千載和歌集》《続後拾遺和歌集》《風雅和歌集》《新千載和歌集》《新拾遺和歌集》《新後拾遺和歌集》《新続古今和歌集》の13集。鎌倉初期〜室町初期に出た勅撰集で，京極派主導の《玉葉集》《風雅集》を除いて二条家の主導のもとに撰進されたもので，その名の示すように平安朝和歌の伝統上にある，平明な歌を集めた歌集が多い。
