Nihonkiryaku - Nihonkiryaku

Japanese:
Nihonkiryaku - Nihonkiryaku
A chronological history book covering the period from the Age of the Gods to the 9th year of the Chogen era (1036) of Emperor Goichijo. It was compiled in the late Heian period. The editor and the number of volumes are unknown. The contents are divided into three main parts. (1) The section on the Age of the Gods, which is a direct reprint of the Nihon Shoki. This is exactly the same as the main text of the copy of the 1306 edition today. (2) The section covering the period from Emperor Jimmu to Emperor Koko, which is an excerpt from the Six National Histories. It is noteworthy that the Shoku Nihongi, which was written before it was deleted by order of Emperor Kanmu, was also used here. (3) The section after Emperor Uda. It was compiled based on the Shin Kokushi, which has been lost today, and government records, but the articles are simplified and only the outline of the events is known. (3) It seems that it was compiled in the order of (2) and (1), but (1) may have been the work of a later person. The title of the book is not consistent, such as Nihonshikiryaku and Nihonshiryaku, and Nihonkiryaku was the name used after the Edo period.
