Kagawa City is located in the center of Kagawa Prefecture, facing the Bisan Seto Strait. It was incorporated as a city in 1942. It prospered as the center of the salt industry, with the development of salt fields by immigrants from Ako in Banshu since 1602, and the construction of salt fields by Takamatsu feudal samurai Kume Tsuyoshi in 1830. Currently, large shipbuilding, oil and chemical factories and power plants are located on abandoned salt fields and reclaimed land, and a heavy chemical complex has been formed. The Yosan Line, Takamatsu Expressway, and National Route 11 pass through the city, and it is also connected to Honshu by the Great Seto Bridge. Goshikidai on the border with Takamatsu City and the Great Seto Bridge Memorial Park, built on Shamijima Island at the south end of the bridge, attract many tourists. Shiramine in the east has many historical sites related to Emperor Sutoku, and Kiyama (historic site) in the south has a great view of the Seto Inland Sea. 92.49 ^km2 . 55,621 people (2010).

香川県中部，備讃瀬戸に面する市。1942年市制。1602年以来播州赤穂の移民による塩田開発，1830年高松藩士久米通賢による塩田造成により，塩業の中心地として繁栄した。現在は廃止塩田や埋立地に造船，石油，化学の大工場や発電所が立地し，重化学コンビナートが形成されている。予讃線，高松自動車道，国道11号線が通じ，瀬戸大橋によって本州とも連絡している。高松市境の五色台や瀬戸大橋南詰の沙弥島につくられた瀬戸大橋記念公園などは多くの観光客を集めている。東部の白峰には崇徳天皇の史跡が多く，南の城山(きやま)（史跡）は瀬戸内海の展望がすぐれる。92.49km²。５万5621人（2010）。
