[1] [noun] sunlight. ray of sunlight. ※Suga-ke Bunso (c. 900), 5th Kansetsucho: “ The spring air is astonished, the Zen forest is waxed , and the sunlight is fixed on the water and ice.” [Hokushi: Biography of Empress Kobunsho] [2][1] Abbreviation of “Nikko Bosatsu (Nikko Bosatsu).” ※Eika (c. 1028-92), Tori no Mai: “The sunlight, the moonlight, they are all standing.” [2] A general term for the area including Nikko National Park, centered on Nikko City. [3] (It is said to be a variation of the phonetic reading of Mt. Nantai, another name for Mt. Futarasan , as “ Nikkosan ”) A place name in the northwestern part of Tochigi Prefecture. It developed after Shihonryuji Temple (later Rinno-ji Temple) and Futarasan Shrine were opened in the late Nara period. During the Edo period, it flourished as a temple town for Toshogu Shrine. Nantai-san, Lake Chuzenji, Toshogu Shrine, Rinno-ji Temple and other attractions are located here, and the city is rich in both natural and man-made beauty. Most of the city area is included in Nikko National Park. It was incorporated as a city in 1954. [4] Tanka magazine. First published in April 1924. It was founded by about 30 people, including Kitahara Hakushu, Toki Zenmaro, Koizumi Chikashi, Kinoshita Rigen, Kawada Jun and Shaku Teiku, and expanded the literary nature of tanka poetry in opposition to the closed-off descriptive poetry of the Araragi school, bringing a breath of fresh air to the tanka world. However, it ceased publication in 1927 after a total of 38 volumes.

[1] 〘名〙 日の光。太陽の光線。※菅家文草(900頃)五・感雪朝「早驚春気禅林臘先負日光定水氷」 〔北史‐孝文昭皇后伝〕[2][一] 「にっこうぼさつ(日光菩薩)」の略。※栄花(1028‐92頃)鳥の舞「日光、月光、皆たち給へる御姿どもなり」[二] 日光市を中心とした日光国立公園を含む一帯の地域の総称。[三] (男体山(なんたいさん)の別名二荒山(ふたらさん)を「にこうさん」と音読したものの変化という) 栃木県西北部の地名。奈良末期に四本龍寺(のち輪王寺)、二荒山神社が開かれてから発展。江戸時代は東照宮の門前町として栄えた。男体山、中禅寺湖、東照宮、輪王寺などがあり、自然美と人工美に富み、市域の大部分が日光国立公園に含まれる。昭和二九年(一九五四)市制。[四] 短歌雑誌。大正一三年(一九二四)四月創刊。北原白秋、土岐善麿、古泉千樫、木下利玄、川田順、釈迢空ら約三〇人が結集、閉鎖的なアララギ派の写生歌に対し、短歌の文学性を拡大、歌壇に新風を送ったが、昭和二年(一九二七)通巻三八巻で終刊。
