Born in the first year of Tenbun. A Nichiren sect acolyte, he studied under Nichiden at Chogenji Temple in Sakai, and in the first year of Koji he became the third abbot of Chomyoji Temple in Kyoto. He opened Myokokuji Temple in Sakai, and lectured on Tendai Buddhism with Nichisen and Nichitai. In the seventh year of Tensho, he participated in the Azuchi Debate and was defeated, and later became the chief priest of Hokekyoji Temple in Nakayama, Shimousa (Chiba Prefecture). He passed away on August 27, in the third year of Keicho. He was 67 years old. He was from Izumi (Osaka Prefecture). His secular surname was Date. His pen names were Ryuun-in and Busshin-in.
