This flora is from the Nariwa Group of the Late Triassic Mesozoic Era, which developed near Nariwa Town, Takahashi City, Okayama Prefecture. It is very similar to the Mine Flora of the Mine Group in Yamaguchi Prefecture, which is also from the Late Triassic but slightly older, and is home to a large number of plants, including wedge-leaved plants (horsetails), ferns, bennettites, cycads, ginkgo trees, and conifers. Horsetail species include Equisetites multidentatus , which resembles modern horsetails but is thicker, with stems up to 5 centimetres in diameter ; Neocalamites carrerei , which has long, linear leaves that grow in whorls on stems over 5 centimetres in diameter; Annulariopsis inopinata , which has fan-shaped leaves; and ferns such as Todites from the Osmundae family, Clathropteris , Thaumatopteris , Dictyophyllum , and Hausmannia from the Acanthaceae family. In addition, gymnosperms such as the Bennettites Pterophyllum , Otozamites , Ptilozamites , Yabeiella , Taeniopteris , the Cycads Nilssonia and Ctenis , the Ginkgoites and Baiera , the conifers Podozamites , Elatocladus , and Nageiopsis are found. These vegetation types suggest a warm and humid climate at that time.
