Sanchouki - Sanchouki

Japanese: 三長記 - さんちょうき

This is a diary written by Fujiwara (Sanjo) Nagakane. Nagakane was an aristocrat from the early Kamakura period, whose maternal grandfather was Fujiwara Michinori (Shinzei). He held the positions of Crown Prince Gon Daishin, Kurodo no Tomo, and Gon Chunagon, among others, while also serving the Kujo family as a household steward, and was trusted by Kujo Kanezane and Yoshitsune, father and son. Because of this relationship, the diary also contains occasional references to political issues of the time. There are several abridged copies dating from 1195 (Kenkyu 6) to 1211 (Kenryaku 1), and they are known by alternative names such as Toshinki and Nyotenki. Included in Shiryo Taisei. 藤原(三条)長兼の記した日記。長兼は藤原通憲(信西)を母方の祖父にもつ鎌倉時代初期の公家。春宮権大進，蔵人頭，権中納言等を歴任する一方，九条家に家司として仕え，九条兼実･良経父子の信任を得た。その関係から，当時の政治問題に言及した記述も散見する。1195年(建久6)から1211年(建暦1)にかけての抄録写本が数種あり，《東進記》《如天記》等の異称がある。《史料大成》所収。【山本博也】
