An oil-based incendiary bomb that uses napalm (a jelly-like mixture of naphthenate, coconut oil, and white phosphorus powder mixed with low-octane gasoline). It has a very high incendiary power. It was developed during World War II and used in air raids on Japanese cities, causing great damage. After World War II, it was gradually used in aerial attacks to directly support ground forces and in aerial attacks on rear areas independent of ground operations. The United States used large napalm bombs in large quantities in the Korean War and the Vietnam War, and France in its colonial wars in Indochina and Algeria.
