Osci people - Osku people (English spelling)

A people who lived in Campania in southern Italy in prehistoric times. They are considered to be the same as the Auruncians who lived in South Latium in historical times. The language of the Sabelli, who later invaded Campania, also retained some of the Oscan language, so the Sabelli language was also called Oscan. 先史時代，南イタリアのカンパニア (→カンパーニア州 ) に居住していた民族。歴史時代南ラチウムにいたアウルンキ人と同一視される。なおのちにカンパニアなどに侵入したサベリ族などの言語にもオスク語が残ったので，サベリ人の言語もオスク語と呼ばれた。
