Japanese: ナナフシ(七節) - ナナフシ（英語表記）stick‐insect

A species of the family Phasmodium. Or a general term for insects belonging to the order Phasmodium. The stick insect Baculum irregulariterdentatum (illustration) is a rather large insect, 7-10cm long, with a slender body resembling a bamboo twig, short antennae, and no wings. It is distributed from Honshu to Kyushu, and is dark brown or yellowish brown in color. It has a small head, and females have a pair of spines on their back. Adults appear in the summer, and prefer to feed on plants such as Yamabuki and Yamafuji, as well as oak and Chinese hackberry leaves.

ナナフシ目ナナフシ科の1種。またはナナフシ目に属する昆虫の総称。ナナフシBaculum irregulariterdentatum（イラスト）は体長7～10cmのやや大型の虫で，タケの小枝に似た細長い体をしており，触角は短く，翅を欠いている。本州から九州にかけて分布し，色彩は暗褐色または黄褐色。頭部は小さく，雌では背面に1対のとげがある。成虫は夏季出現し，ヤマブキやヤマフジなどを好んで食べ，ナラやエノキの葉なども食べる。
