Mount Gozaisho

Japanese: 御在所山 - ございしょやま
Mount Gozaisho

It is one of the main peaks in the Suzuka Mountains in northern Mie Prefecture. It is 1,212 meters above sea level. It is also called Mt. Gozaisho. It is easy to reach the summit by taking a 10-minute bus from Yunoyama Onsen Station on the Kintetsu Yunoyama Line to Gozaisho Ropeway Yunoyama Onsen Station, and then a 12-minute ride on the 2.161-kilometer-long ropeway to Sanjo Koen Station. Near the summit, a flat uplifted plain remains, and the grassland with rhododendron colonies forms the mountain park. There are observation decks and bungalows with views of Ise Bay, Lake Biwa, the Alps, and even Mt. Fuji, and in winter it becomes a ski resort. Granite cliffs line the area around the summit, and Tounaiheki on the northern slope is known as one of the three major rock formations in Japan, attracting rock climbers from all over the country. It belongs to the Suzuka Quasi-National Park.
