Kanto Guard
〘Noun〙 One of the titles of the Kamakura Shogunate. Shogunate retainers served the Shogunate on a one- or two-month rotation and were in charge of guarding. On duty. Oban. Kamakura Oban -yaku . In December of the first year of Karoku ( 1225 ), it was stipulated that retainers from 15 provinces east of Totomi Province would share the duties of the service. ※Azuma Kagami - January 10th, 1185 (Bun'ichi) " These were assigned to the retainers . However, it was decided that the Kanto guard duties would be limited to the duties of the Left Horse Head Captain and the guards ."

〘名〙 鎌倉幕府の職名の一つ。幕府の御家人が、一か月、あるいは二か月交替で幕府に勤仕し、警固にあたったもの。当番。大番(おおばん)。鎌倉大番役。嘉祿元年(一二二五)一二月、遠江より東の一五か国の御家人に分担勤仕させると規定。※吾妻鏡‐文治元年(1185)正月一〇日「所御家人也。但止関東番役等左馬頭能保宿直之由、被定云々」
