〘Noun〙 One of the titles of the Kamakura Shogunate. Shogunate retainers served the Shogunate on a one- or two-month rotation and were in charge of guarding. On duty. Oban. Kamakura Oban -yaku . 〘名〙鎌倉幕府の職名の一つ。幕府の御家人が、一か月、あるいは二か月交替で幕府に勤仕し、警固にあたったもの。当番。大番(おおばん)。鎌倉大番役。嘉祿元年（一二二五）一二月、遠江より東の一五か国の御家人に分担勤仕させると規定。※吾妻鏡‐文治元年（1185）正月一〇日「所_レ被_レ加_二御家人_一也。但止_二関東番役等_一可_レ勤_二左馬頭能保宿直_一之由、被_レ定云々」
