A former town in Kojima-gun, located in the southern part of Okayama Prefecture, in the southern part of the Okayama Plain. The Uno Line and the Seto Ohashi Line pass through the town, and the settlements of Hazakawa and Hikozaki are well-developed in front of the station. The reclaimed land is a large-scale mechanized rice-growing region, and also produces vegetables, mushrooms, and fruit. In recent years, residential development has been progressing. 岡山県南部,岡山平野南部にある児島郡の旧町。宇野線,瀬戸大橋線が通じ,駅前集落迫川(はざかわ),彦崎が発達。干拓地域は大規模な機械化米作地域で,野菜,キノコ,果樹も産する。近年,宅地開発が進んでいる。2005年3月御津郡御津町と岡山市へ編入。30.86km2。1万6240人(2003)。
