Germany's central bank until the end of World War II. It was established in 1875 as a reorganization of the Bank of Prussia, against the backdrop of the founding of the German Empire and the establishment of a gold standard currency system (the mark). It was privately funded and subject to government supervision, but became independent from the government in 1924 due to its experience with inflation after World War I. After the establishment of the Nazi regime in 1933, it became subordinate to the government again. It was closed in May 1945. →Deutsche Bundesbank Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
