Joruri. Sewamono. Three volumes. Written by Chikamatsu Monzaemon. First performed around 1712 at the Takemotoza Theater in Osaka. Hanshichi, a clerk at Iwami Sword Shop in Kyo Horikawa, sees that the contract of a prostitute named Ohana from Izutsuya, who he has become acquainted with, is about to be extended. He trades a precious sword entrusted to him by his aunt for a cheap one, sells it, and throws the 20 ryo he made with the sword at her, and the two of them run away. The aunt commits suicide by disemboweling herself, accepting the crime and saving the two of them. 浄瑠璃。世話物。三巻。近松門左衛門作。正徳二年(一七一二)頃大坂竹本座初演。京堀川の刀屋石見の手代半七は、なじみになった井筒屋の遊女お花の年季が延長されそうになるのを見て、おばから預かっていた大切な刀を安物とすりかえて売って作った二〇両を投げつけて二人で逃げる。おばは腹を切ってその罪を負い、二人を助ける。
