An association that is not different from an incorporated association in substance, but is not recognized as having legal capacity under the law. Until the Intermediate Corporation Law was enacted in 2001, only those with profit-making or public interest purposes could be recognized as incorporated associations, and this resulted in the creation of such an association. Examples include alumni associations, clubs, and volunteer groups. In the past, it was understood that the rules for unions applied to such associations, but now it is considered that they should be treated as similar to incorporated associations as much as possible. Furthermore, the capacity of the parties is explicitly recognized (Article 29 of the Civil Procedure Law). →NPO
