Dolomite is a process in which CaCO 3 in limestone is replaced by dolomite (CaMg(CO 3 ) 2) . Limestone can easily turn into dolostone when it reacts with seawater during deposition or when it is exposed to groundwater during diagenesis. It can also turn into dolostone when exposed to hydrothermal solutions, and this can be accompanied by deposits of lead, zinc, siderite, magnesite, barite, fluorite, mercury, and other minerals.
