Golfe de Saint-Malo

Japanese: サン･マロ湾 - サンマロわん（英語表記）Golfe de Saint‐Malo

A bay in northwestern France, bordered by the western coast of the Cotentin Peninsula in Normandy and the eastern north coast of the Brittany Peninsula up to Blair Island, facing the English Channel. Saint-Malo is at the inner part of the bay, and offshore are the British Channel Islands. The surrounding geology is mainly composed of rocks from the Archean or Palaeozoic Armorican Mountains. The western part has sea cliffs, while the eastern part has many sandy beaches. The tidal range is large, reaching 13 meters, and the Rance tidal power station is located near Saint-Malo. Most of the water is between 10 and 50 meters deep.

フランス北西部，ノルマンディーのコタンタン半島西岸とブレア島付近までのブルターニュ半島北岸東部に抱かれ，イギリス海峡に臨む湾。サン･マロがその湾奥部にあり，沖合にイギリス領のチャンネル諸島がある。周辺の地質は主として始生代ないし古生代古期のアルモリカン山地の岩石から成る。西部は海食崖，東部は砂浜海岸が多い。干満の差が大きく，13mにも達し，サン･マロの近くにランス潮力発電所がある。水深は10～50mの部分が大半を占める。
