Optical parallel

Japanese: optical parallel(英語表記)opticalparallel
Optical parallel

...Surface accuracy is usually evaluated by the Newton rings created between the surface and a reference surface, and the maximum deviation from flatness is about 0.05 to 0.3 μm, but recently high-precision ones with a deviation of about 0.005 μm have been made. Transparent glass plates made so that both sides are flat and parallel are called optical parallels, and are used to measure flatness and parallelism by light interference. The deviation from parallelism between the two sides, i.e. the maximum difference in thickness, is about 0.2 to 0.4 μm.
