Luteinizing hormone

Japanese: luteinizing hormone(英語表記)luteinizinghormone
Luteinizing hormone

...The sexual cycle is brought about by a kind of biological autoregulatory mechanism between the nervous system and the endocrine system in the diencephalon-pituitary-ovarian axis, and is brought about by the interaction between the hypothalamus and anterior pituitary gland in the brain and the ovaries, which in turn regulate the secretion of hormones from each.
[Menstrual Cycle]
Under the control of the diencephalon and hypothalamus, the anterior pituitary gland secretes two types of gonadotropins (gonads) into the bloodstream in a regular cycle according to the menstrual cycle: follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH). Follicle-stimulating hormone stimulates the ovarian follicles to mature.

From [Gonadotropin]

…They are also called gonadotropic hormones. In vertebrates, they include two hormones secreted from the anterior pituitary gland: follicle-stimulating hormone (abbreviated as FSH) and luteinizing hormone (abbreviated as LH) or interstitial cell-stimulating hormone (abbreviated as ICSH), and chorionic gonadotropin (abbreviated as CG, but abbreviated as hCG in humans), secreted from the placenta. Both are glycoproteins, and in humans, FSH has a molecular weight of about 35,000, while LH and hCG have a molecular weight of about 30,000. …

From the Pituitary Gland

…(5) Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) In women, it acts on the ovaries to promote the development of primordial follicles, and in men, it promotes spermatogenesis in the testes. (6) Luteinizing hormone (LH) In women, it promotes the development of follicles together with FSH, and stimulates the production and secretion of estrogen. At the mid-menstrual period, a rapid secretion of LH occurs from the anterior lobe, and in response to this, the mature follicles in the ovaries ovulate and form the corpus luteum. …
