The remains of a Viking-era fort in western Zealand, Denmark. Ship-shaped structures resembling upside-down boats are symmetrically arranged in a space of 68m radius surrounded by earthworks that form a precise circle. It was used for a short period from the late 10th century to the beginning of the 11th century. It was once thought to have been a training ground and assembly area for Viking expeditions, but this theory has been called into question in recent years, as many of the buildings were used as storehouses and there are no signs of habitation.
