Hugues Doneau

French jurist. His Latin name was Hugo Donellus. He was born in Chalon-sur-Saône to a lawyer's family. He studied law in Toulouse and obtained his doctorate in Bourges under the supervision of François Duaren (1509-59), a student of Archat. He taught at the University of Orléans, and then became a professor at the University of Bourges in 1551. In 1572, after the St. Bartholomew's Day Massacre, Donellus, a Protestant (Calvinist), fled to Geneva.

フランスの法学者。ラテン名はドネルスHugo Donellus。シャロン･シュル･ソーヌで法律家の家に生まれる。トゥールーズで法学を学んで，ブールジュでアルチャートの弟子デュアレンFrançois Duaren(1509‐59)の指導下に学位を取得。オルレアン大学で教えたあと，1551年からブールジュ大学の教授。1572年サン･バルテルミの虐殺が起き，プロテスタント(カルバン派)のドノーはジュネーブに逃れる。
