Japanese: 多久[市] - たく

A city in central Saga Prefecture. It was incorporated as a city in 1954. The downtown area, which has long been developed around the Taku Basin, developed as a coal mining town in the Karatsu coalfields after the Meiji period. It is served by the Karatsu Line and the Nagasaki Expressway. Since the coal mines closed in 1972, efforts have been made to attract businesses to the area, with textile, electrical equipment, and food industries situating there. The development of an industrial complex in the north is also progressing. Rice, loquats, mandarin oranges, strawberries, and other crops are produced in the rural areas, and livestock is also raised there. 佐賀県中部の市。1954年市制。多久盆地を中心に古くから開けた中心市街は，明治以後唐津炭田の炭鉱町として発展した。唐津線，長崎自動車道が通じる。1972年炭鉱閉山以降，炭鉱跡地を中心に企業誘致が進められ，繊維，電機，食品工業などが立地。北部の工業団地造成も進む。農村部は米，ビワ，ミカン，イチゴなどを産し，畜産も行われる。孔子をまつる多久聖廟（史跡）がある。96.96km²。２万1404人（2010）。
