West Midlands Industrial Region

…the common name for an industrial region in the western Midlands region of central England. Its official name is the West Midlands Industrial Region. The name comes from the concentration of coal mines, iron ore mines, steelworks, and other facilities in the area, resulting in air pollution, crowded houses, and desolate landscapes. In Japan, it is translated as "Kurogo" (black land).
