Pyrethrins

Also known as pyrethroid. The active insecticidal ingredient in pyrethrum. A pale yellow, viscous oily substance made up of pyrethrin I, II, cinerin I, II, etc. It enters the body through the insect's spiracles or cuticle and paralyzes the nerves. It has strong insecticidal power but very low toxicity to humans and animals. Its weakness is its weak residual effect.
