Cash Currency - Genkintsuuka

Currency that is legally qualified as the final means of payment and has compulsory legality. It is called cash, money, or cash and is used as a means of small-amount payment. In Japan, it consists of Bank of Japan notes in denominations of 1,000, 2,000, 5,000, and 10,000 yen, as well as government-issued coins of 1, 5, 10, 50, 100, and 500 yen, excluding commemorative coins. It is contrasted with deposit currency, but its proportion has declined to less than 20%.

As the basis of currency, it is used for daily small transactions such as payment of wages and salaries, consumption expenditures of individuals and households, settlement of small transactions, etc. With the spread of credit cards, prepaid cards (advance payment cards), and electronic money, cash saving is progressing, and the tendency is for cash to decrease further.

法的に最終支払手段の資格を与えられ、強制通用力のある貨幣。現金とかお金、キャッシュとよばれ、小口の支払手段として用いられる。日本では1000円札から2000円札、5000円札、1万円札までの紙幣の日本銀行券と記念硬貨を除く1円、5円、10円、50円、100円、500円の政府発行の硬貨である補助貨からなる。預金通貨と対(つい)をなすが、その比率は低下して20％にも満たない。

　通貨の基本として賃金・給料の支払いや個人・家計の消費支出、小口取引の決済など日常の小口取引に用いられる。クレジットカードやプリペイドカード（代金前払いカード）、電子マネーの普及によって現金の節約が進行しており、ますます減少傾向にある。
