Tosakanori - Tosakanori

Japanese:
Tosakanori - Tosakanori

A perennial seaweed of the red algae family, the family Miriaceae. It has a soft, flat, membranous thallus that is a beautiful crimson red. Its name comes from the fact that its edges split irregularly and each apex has a crest-like protrusion. Its old name is Torisaka-moss. Its body size is 10-30 centimeters. It grows year-round on the ocean floor at depths of less than 10 meters in the warm and warm open seas west of the Boso Peninsula. It is particularly abundant in warm waters and has long been eaten as a garnish for sashimi, but in recent years it has become increasingly used as a food, being called seaweed salad.
