Tuvan people - Tuvintsy

Japanese: トゥバ族 - トゥバぞく（英語表記）Tuvintsy

They are Turkic-speaking pastoral farmers who live in the area of the source of the Yenisei River (50°-54° north latitude) deep in the Asian continent. They are thought to be descendants of the Dubo (Dubo) mentioned in Chinese historical documents, but neighboring tribes Tofalary (Karagasy) and Koibaly also call themselves Tuva. In Mongolia to the south, they are called Uryanhai (Ulianghai). The old name given to them by Russians, Soioty, comes from the tribal name Soyon (the same name is given to the Sayan Mountains). Population within the Russian Federation: 206,100 (1989).

アジア大陸深奥部のエニセイ川源流域(北緯50゜～54゜)に住むチュルク語系牧農民。中国史料の伝える都播(都波)の末裔とみられるが，隣族のトファラルTofalary(カラガスKaragasy)やコイバルKoibalyもトゥバと自称する。南隣のモンゴルではこれをウリヤンハイ(烏梁海)と呼ぶ。ロシア人による旧称ソヨートSoiotyは部族名ソヨンに由来する(サヤン山脈の名称も同じ)。ロシア連邦領内の人口20万6100(1989)。
