...His only surviving documented work is John (1301-02) in the Pisa Cathedral sanctuary mosaic; all other works attributed to him are stylistic. His two Crucifixions (Arezzo and Florence) follow the iconographic style of the Agony of Christ established by Giunta Pisano (active in the first half of the 13th century), but the strong engraved contours, the delicate depiction of the draperies with gold highlights, and the sculptural fleshiness show the influence of Coppo di Marcovaldo. In his murals of the Virgin and Child on the Throne with Four Angels and Francis, and in his Madonna di Santa Trinita, he injects human life into the sacred figures and also shows a sense of three-dimensional space. ...
